The holiday season is officially upon us, which tends to bring the occasional shopper looking to purchase bras as a gift for their partner or family member. Our fitting team is always happy to advise, but in these situations, we’re probably going to strongly recommend a gift card over an actual bra purchase. Unless the recipient has seen us in-store relatively recently or the gift giver wants an identical match to a tried-and-true style and size, bra shopping on behalf of another person is replete with obstacles. Don’t get us wrong; Grail absolutely stocks products like robes, camisoles, chemises, and other non-bra-sized underthings that are not so fussy to fit and are therefore much easier to gift than bras. These can be a great option for folks who really would prefer to have something their loved ones can unwrap and enjoy immediately. Consider, though, the very real benefits that a gift card offers:

~  The current economic climate has brought financial hardship to many of us, and in those circumstances, self-care purchases like comfortable and well-fitting undergarments tend to be postponed or cut entirely. “Sure, my bra is falling apart and doesn’t fit anymore, but my kids need new clothes, the water heater went out, car needs repairs…” etc. An invitation to a bra fitting is both functional and special.

~  A bra upgrade is a quality-of-life improvement and, for many recipients, it’s also a mood booster.

~  A Grail gift card is part product, part invitation to an experience. As a bonus, we like to think that the information we impart during a fitting can help the client learn how to find bras that better meets their needs going forward, today and in the future.

~  “But, aren’t gift cards kind of impersonal and thoughtless?” Not at all! You’re acknowledging that the recipient knows their preferences best, and in the case of bras, it’s virtually impossible to get an optimal fit without trying things on.
